On August 8th, our airline became a #7YearVirgin. It may be called a birth-day, but like most people, we prefer spreading out the celebration over a week (or two) of fun-filled activities, giveaways, and reminiscing. So in case you missed it – and not to worry, belated birthday gifts are still accepted – here’s a recap of how we kicked off our seventh year of flying.
Pre-birthday Sale: August 6
We got the party started early with an epic three-day sale with low fares from $47 each way. If you missed out, be sure to follow us on Facebook or Twitter and sign up to receive fare sale emails so that you’re always in the know!
Day One: August 8
You showered us with love on our birthday, so we wanted to thank you by giving away 13,000 Elevate points and two free flights on Twitter. Also…we may have made a few of you do somersaults. #SorryNotSorry.

Day Two: August 9
In San Francisco, we joined our friends Humphry Slocombe for day two of the Outside Lands music festival, while our L.A. teammates got together for a Hawaiian Luau-themed party, complete with hula dancing, a tiki bar, shaved snow, and of course, a little surfing.
Day Nine: August 16
We hit AT&T Park for our annual Virgin America Day with the San Francisco Giants. We tailgated with a little #VXsafetydance onboard our float in Willie Mays Plaza while the first 40,000 fans lined up to receive a two-for-one flight voucher as they entered the field.
Then we kicked off the game with a rousing national anthem sung by Virgin America InFlight Teammate, LeiLani, and a ceremonial first pitch thrown by our first #FLYTOGETHER contest winner, Suzanne. (The contest is still running – click for details.)
We treated fans with surprises throughout the game, including our Swag Hunt, a Mile High Cam, Lucky Row giveaways, and an Elevate text-to-win points giveaway. Our teammates filled the stands and cheered on the San Francisco Giants as they landed a win over the Phillies with a clutch save by Sergio Romo.
Day Ten: August 17
We wrapped up our birthday celebrations with a company-wide circus-themed picnic at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA. Yes, that’s a real Ferris wheel in our backyard.
Thank you for supporting us over these past seven years. We may be another year older, but we feel just as young as the day we first stretched our wings. Check out our Facebook album for more photos from Virgin America Day at AT&T Park here.
