My Geek-tastic Hangout with YouTube Celebs

Thursday May 2, 2013 / Posted by Kate T.

As the only airline based in Silicon Valley, we tend to geek-out over social applications like Vine, Pinterest, and Instagram. So when I learned that I would have the opportunity to interview the stars of YouTube’s new video content, I jumped at the chance to have a one-on-one via Google+ Hangout. John Lutz of The Front Desk and Jess Lizama of Dance Showdown were kind enough to indulge me in a digital chit-chat regarding their new YouTube series.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the exclusive videos onboard our Red™ In-Flight Entertainment system, The Front Desk features pretty much everyone’s favorite SNL and 30 Rock actors in hilarious skits centered on an NYC boutique hotel.  John – who played “Lutz” on 30 Rock – shared with me how he got the idea for the series, the best part of working on 30 Rock, and his future plans. Check it out and if you like it here is more from Above Average

Anything that features late 90s boy bands is A+ content in my book. D-trix Presents Dance Showdown is a dance competition featuring judges like Joey Fatone from N’Sync who evaluate dance routines from professional dancers and YouTube celebrities.. I spoke with Jess, who hosts a beauty/vlog/comedy channel about her time on the show, her dance background, and the music she listens to while flying on Virgin America with her daughter.  Watch my interview with her here…

In addition to The Front Desk and Dance Showdown, be sure to check out the other YouTube series featured on Red’s In-Flight section, including Vice Travel Runaways, and MinutePhysics. Check them out from 35,000 feet and let us know your favorites!
