#Nerdbird Heads South

Companies based in Silicon Valley including Facebook, Google, and LinkedIn have changed and inspired the world but tech and innovation isn’t just limited to the Bay Area. “Silicon Cities” have popped up on a global scale – everywhere from “Silicon Hills” in Austin to “Silicon Welly” in New Zealand to “Silicon Khal” in India are just a few of the international tech enclaves.

We’re excited that our #nerdbird aircraft flies to most of the U.S. domestic “Silicon Cities” – including one of our newest routes of Austin, Texas – when flights launch there on May 21st.

Of course, this week, the place to be for tech – and for music – is South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin. Even though our flights there haven’t started yet, Virgin America joined the tens of thousands who’ve flocked to Austin – you can find us with our friends from Virgin Mobile at their Virginhouse giving away promo codes and creating photo ops.

Next year, we’re your bird when you’re planning your SXSW travel from the Bay Area.  In the meantime, come visit us at the Virgin Mobile’s Virginhouse and enter our contest by tweeting @VirginAmerica #NerdbirdAUS to win roundtrip tickets.
