New Jersey Pride, on the Side

Thursday March 7, 2013 / Posted by Jane S.

We’re getting psyched to welcome New Jerseyans on our new nonstop flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco from Newark (EWR), taking off this April.  As the only airline to offer fleet-wide WiFi, power outlets and interactive touch-screen entertainment on every flight from EWR, we can’t wait to show Garden State flyers the “boss” service they deserve.  And, since we’re also welcoming the newest and—thanks to Airbus’s new “Sharklet” technology—[most fuel-efficient aircraft in our fleet], we thought we’d turn to the locals in our latest destination to give it a name. Now through March 15, we’re asking our proudest Jersey fans to submit their best Garden State-themed plane names for the chance to win a flight on us (and grace the side of our new bird).

As you may have noticed, we’re pretty serious about picking our plane names here at Virgin America. Our Jersey Pride contest follows a line of clever moniker competitions that gave us crowd-sourced gems like Mt. Hoodie, Scarlett O’Air, and #Nerdbird. The bar is high, but we’re pretty sure our Jersey crew is going to bring it. The winner will score a trip on us and the satisfaction of seeing his or her idea take off, literally and figuratively.
