Jersey girls (and guys) we know identify by exit number. We’re psyched to report that next year, Virgin America will have a new Garden State address at Newark’s Liberty International Airport (EWR). Starting in April 2013, we’ll offer three nonstop roundtrips daily between EWR and both Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and our San Francisco International Airport (SFO) homebase. Grab a seat on our new routes here.
Our service will be the only low-fare flight service from Newark to the largest airports on the West Coast – and we’re thinking that our new, custom-designed mood-lit planes will be well-received by Jersey travelers. Our nonstop flights from both LAX and SFO to New York’s JFK already have a strong following among bi-coastal flyers and our guests have been putting EWR at the top of their Virgin America destination wish list for some time, so we’re thrilled to offer travelers yet another option when traveling from the Left Coast to New Jersey and New York. With our JFK service, we’ve already attracted some pretty notable Jersey flyers over the years – including those who enjoy our fleetwide WiFi and power outlets at every seat (note: outlets are intended to be used for personal electronic devices, not personal styling tools. But hey).
We are thankful to all our Jersey friends, including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the local leaders who had the vision to increase air service options at EWR. Although EWR service does not launch until April 2, 2013, flyers nationwide can already donate at 35,000 feet via our Red in-flight entertainment platform to the official Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, a nonprofit charitable organization chaired by New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat Christie to help rebuild communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy. 100% of what is raised onboard will go directly to the fund – and Virgin America is matching donations this month.
