One of the things I feel makes Virgin America unique is the potential to socialize on our flights. Don’t get me wrong, because every now and then I love to put my headphones on and zone out to an on-demand film on Red™. But with our Seat-to-Seat Delivery Feature and Seat-to-Seat chat functions, guests are able to connect rows away with both new and old friends. With the help of our WiFi partner Gogo and the business-networking iOS app Here on Biz, we’re launching the first domestic in-flight social network. By isolating the unique IP address of each Virgin America aircraft, this first-of-its-kind technology allows guests to see and connect with other guests (via LinkedIn or other social network) not only the flight they’re on, but also on any other Virgin America flight and even with fellow travelers at their destination.
To get started, visit the mobile app store, download the Here on Biz app and register a new account using LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter while on the ground. Once the Gogo In-flight WiFi network has been activated after takeoff, open up the Here on Biz app and sign in to your specific flight. From now through July 2014, guests on all U.S. Virgin America flights can access the Here On Biz iOS app for free through the Gogo network.
Once you’re all set up, you’ll be able to make introductions and chat with fellow entrepreneurs in the sky. Would you rather fly under the radar? App users can also manage their privacy settings and shut off or limit their visible connections just to people within their own network.
