Rocking Out(side Lands)

Monday August 18, 2014 / Posted by Sean H.

This past weekend we joined Humphry Slocombe and 200,000 of our closest friends to rock out at Outside Lands in San Francisco –- one of the premier music festivals in the U.S. This year’s talent included Kanye West, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Killers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Arctic Monkeys, Tiësto, Duck Sauce, Haim, Chromeo, Flume and many more.

And as incredible as the performances were, music wasn’t the only thing to enjoy at Outside Lands. As the festival has grown over the years, it’s also gained a reputation for art and for being a mecca for foodies. This year, our friends at Chefs Feed hosted a brand new space dubbed the Gastro Magic stage and created an entire program around music and food mash-ups — like Beignets and Bounce Brunch with Big Freedia and Brenda’s French Soul Food (literally Twerking for beignets) and Chocolate Gold Rush with Holy Ghost! and Guittard Chocolate Company.

Speaking of Guittard Chocolate, Humphry Slocombe joined the renowned chocolate company to help create a custom flavor for Outside Lands this year – Chocolate Gold Rush – a dark chocolate ice cream with bittersweet chocolate covered waffle cone bits. Yum!

This flavor is so good, Jean-Luc Picard parked the starship Enterprise in Earth’s orbit and stopped by Chocolands to pick himself up a scoop.

Now, if you missed Outside Lands this year, there isn’t much I can do for you (sorry!). But, if you missed Chocolate Gold Rush, fret not! There are still two ways for you to check out this decadent flavor:

1. Treat yourself to a First Class upgrade this fall where you can sweeten the skies at 35,000 feet with Humphry Slocombe’s Chocolate Gold Rush and Virgin America’s signature #ButterByMoodlight flavor.

2. Stop by Humphry Slocombe’s San Francisco Ferry Building location and ask nicely. VIP secret – bring your airport-printed Virgin America boarding pass for a free scoop!
