Snowbirds, get packed for Palm Springs!

Today we’ve announced a new nonstop flight — one that will hopefully be a warm surprise. Starting December 22, 2012, we will be the first airline to offer a seasonal, weekly nonstop flight between New York (JFK) and Palm Springs (PSP). The flight will operate on Saturdays and will complement our seasonal, daily nonstop flights between San Francisco (SFO) and PSP. We’ll continue to offer connecting service by way of San Francisco (JFK-SFO-PSP), but given the high demand we’ve seen for New Yorkers heading to the desert, we hope that adding a direct flight will be a quick and convenient route for those seeking warmer climates.

As a native of the East Coast (specifically NJ), I know that the snowbirds tend to fly south to Florida to escape the icy pavement and soggy shoes that accompany the winter months of the Northeast. Although we’re big fans of the Gold Coast as well, there’s still something to be said for wintering in a destination that the Rat Pack called Hollywood’s Playground.

So if you are a snowbird considering your winter travels, or a music junkie already plotting next year’s Coachella, give Palm Springs a spin and book yourself a seat. Or, if you’re a Palm Springs resident who wants to head to the Big Apple for some Fifth Avenue holiday shopping and ice skating at Rock Center, then by all means, head east! Our introductory fares start from a low $149 (restrictions apply). Book by September 26.
